We are seeking a reliable and skilled Farm Hand to assist the owners in the daily operations of our farms. This hands-on role focuses on tractor and machinery operation, maintenance duties, and cattle management, playing a key part in ensuring the smooth and efficient running of the farm. We operate two Dairy Farms across 500Ha and Runoff blocks across 400Ha. This role is primarily based on the runoff blocks, along with maintenance, cultivation and project work on the Dairy blocks
4 bedroom house available and bus to local primary school nearby.
Key Responsibilities:
Tractor Work & Machinery Operation: Operate tractors and farm machinery for feeding, pasture and crop management, and general farm duties. Perform basic mechanical checks and maintenance to ensure machinery is safe and operational.
Farm & Building Maintenance: Carry out some maintenance and repairs of farm infrastructure as required, including farm sheds, Dairy Sheds and worker Dwellings. Identify and resolve issues to maintain a safe working environment.
Cattle Management & Health Monitoring: Assist with daily animal handling including moving, feeding, and yard work. Monitor livestock health and behavior, following farm health plans and protocols.
Fencing: Build, repair, and maintain farm fencing to ensure stock containment and pasture rotation.
Irrigation Management: Operate and maintain irrigation systems to ensure effective water distribution across the farm.
Skills & Attributes:
Decent tractor and machinery operation skills
Basic mechanical and maintenance knowledge
Experience with livestock handling and welfare
Physically fit and comfortable working outdoors
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Good problem-solving skills and attention to detail
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in livestock farming
Driver’s license
Knowledge of animal health and farm safety practices
Experience in driving machinery and ATVs on rolling hill country.
