Maintenance Engineer / Fabricator
About the role
Makikihi Fries is on the lookout for a skilled and motivated Maintenance Engineer with strong fabrication experience to join our team in South Canterbury. This is a hands-on, varied role suited to someone who enjoys working across maintenance, fabrication, and general plant operations.
Key responsibilities
Factory maintenance, including servicing pumps, motors, and plant equipment
Carrying out weekly greasing cycles across factory machinery
Fabrication of new machinery and equipment (heavy and sheet metal work)
Assisting with potato handling operations during harvest season
Supporting daily procurement runs between stores and the factory
Operating machinery as required
What we’re looking for
Proven experience in engineering maintenance and fabrication
Ability to work with both heavy and sheet metal
Machinery operation experience (advantageous)
A self-motivated, reliable individual who can work independently
Someone who takes initiative and doesn’t require close supervision
