We're seeking a Finance Administrator to join our team, supporting the financial management of two farming entities. This part-time position (20-25 hours per week) is ideally suited to someone looking for school-friendly hours (e.g., 9am-3pm) or a 4-day workweek, in an on-farm location.

About the Business:

Situated between Timaru and Waimate, the business encompasses two large-scale agricultural operations. The first is an intensive deer breeding operation, known for its history of genetic innovation. It is home to a world-renowned deer herd that forms the foundation of a premium international hunting and experience business. The second is a dryland dairy farming, made up of two units operating at scale that consistently produce high production.

About the Role:

In this role, you'll manage day-to-day financial tasks, ensuring accurate record-keeping and smooth accounting processes. You'll work closely with the Finance Manager to oversee payroll, accounts payable/receivable, banking, expense management, and GST/PAYE compliance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Process financial transactions & maintain Xero accounting records

  • Payroll processing & ensure accurate PAYE filings

  • Manage accounts payable & receivable, including GST filings

  • Conduct banking transactions & reconcile accounts

  • Assist with month-end & year-end close processes

  • Identify opportunities for process improvements & automation

About You:

  • Minimum 2+ years' experience in a Finance/Admin role

  • Strong Xero proficiency, including payroll & tax compliance

  • High attention to detail & strong problem-solving abilities

  • Excellent communication skills & ability to work independently
