Deer Farm Stock Manager / 2IC
Fraser Deer
Are you a skilled, hands-on stockperson ready to step into a role at one of New Zealand’s most respected deer farming operations? This is a rare opportunity to join a forward-thinking, internationally recognised business — with real career progression across genetics, farming, and premium hunting tourism.
ABOUT FRASER DEER
Fraser Deer, based at Mt Cecil between Timaru and Waimate, is one of New Zealand’s leading deer farming operations — internationally recognised for elite trophy stag genetics and its pioneering work in advancing the red deer industry.
We are the foundation behind Venator New Zealand, the global leader in luxury hunting safaris, and part of the wider Fraser Family Group, which includes:
Fraser Dairies — a high-performing dryland dairy business in South Canterbury
Venator New Zealand — a luxury hunting and hospitality business in Wanaka, operating premium lodges and exclusive hunting areas
Fraser Deer USA and Venator USA — operating in Oklahoma with a growing North American elk farming and guided hunting presence
Our two well-resourced properties total over 620ha and carry approximately 2,000 trophy stags and 800 high-quality breeding hinds. Our breeding programme is at the forefront of the industry, utilising advanced genetics, artificial insemination (AI), and embryo transfer. We complete most cultivation, seeding, and feed production in-house using modern, well-maintained machinery.

This is a leadership position working closely with our Farm Manager and a tight-knit team of four to five staff. You’ll be involved in all aspects of day-to-day farm management — stock, breeding, feed, and operations — while helping develop junior team members and ensuring the farm runs to a high standard.
As part of a vertically integrated agricultural and tourism business, this role also offers a genuine connection to a global operation spanning elite genetics and premium hospitality — from the South Island to the USA.
