Deer Farm Stock Manager/2IC
Fraser Deer
COMPANY OVERVIEW
Fraser Deer is one of New Zealand’s leading deer farming operations, internationally recognised for producing world-class trophy animals and advancing the genetic potential of the red deer industry. With a proud legacy and a focus on innovation, Fraser Deer is the foundation behind Venator New Zealand, the global leader in luxury hunting safaris.
Fraser Deer is part of the wider Fraser Family Group, which includes:
Fraser Dairies, a high-performing dry land dairy business in South Canterbury;
Venator New Zealand, a luxury hunting and hospitality business based in Wanaka, operating premium lodges and exclusive hunting areas;
Fraser Deer USA and Venator USA, operating in Oklahoma with a growing presence in North American elk farming and guided hunting.
Our deer breeding program is at the forefront of the industry, specialising in elite trophy stags through advanced genetics, AI, and embryo transfer. We are committed to sustainability, animal welfare, and land stewardship while delivering exceptional results year after year.
Based at Mt Cecil, just south of Timaru and north of Waimate, we operate across two well-resourced properties totalling over 620ha. The home farm is predominantly flat with gentle rolling contours, while our 120ha irrigated support block is a high-performing unit with three hard-hose irrigators. Across the farms we run approximately 2,000 trophy stags and 800 high-quality breeding hinds. We also complete most cultivation, seeding, and feed production in-house using modern, well-maintained machinery.
