Chef/Cook – Craigmore Station

We are looking for a Chef/Cook to run our kitchen during the upcoming Pheasant Shooting season. This position is set in one of South Canterbury’s oldest running stations in the Maungati district. You would be catering during the pheasant shoot season which involves cooking for up to 40 people on a shoot day. This requires a person that can produce a high standard of cooking and will also involve keeping areas used by our shoot guests in a clean and tidy condition.

The shoot season runs from April to August and the hours of work are flexible but must include time for food shopping, meal prep and most Saturday shoot days and the occasional Wednesday during this period. There would be the possibility of more hours to cater for guests staying in the homestead and on farm events. The hourly rate is dependent on experience.

Main Duties and Responsibilities are:

  • Menu Planning and shopping.

  • Organising kitchen hands as required.

  • Prepare and cook dishes to the required standard.

  • Service of Food.

  • Ensure all areas are clean and tidy after service.

  • Ensure food safety/health and hygiene are followed.

  • Ensuring Homestead is ready for guests.
